Asia Pacific Sociological Association (APSA) – October, 2012

The 11th Asia Pacific Association Conference is held on October 22–24, 2012, in Ateneo de Manila University in Manila, Philippines. The web-page for the conference is http://apsa2012admu.wordpress.com/, and there is also a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/apsa2012admu.

Manila is the capital of the Philippines. It is a very modern and “western” city. The temperature during the conference ranges from 74 to 88 Fahrenheit (or 23 to 31 Celsius).

British Sociological Association (BSA) – April, 2013 (deadline October)

The annual conference of the BSA is scheduled for April 3–5, 2013. This year’s theme is “Engaging Sociology”. The submission deadline is October 5, 2012. The conference takes place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The web-page for the conference is http://www.britsoc.co.uk/events/bsa-annual-conference.aspx.

London is the capital of the United Kingdom and the host of the 2012 Summer Olympics. There are numerous options for the conference travel when it comes to sightseeing, watching sports etc. The temperature during the conference ranges from 41 to 56 Fahrenheit (or 5 to 13 Celsius).

 

European Sociological Association (ESA) – August, 2013

The 11th ESA conference named “Crisis, Critique and Change” is scheduled for August 28–31, 2013, in at the University of Turin, Italy. ESA is behind the journal European Societies. The web-page for the conference is http://www.europeansociology.org/conferences/11th-esa-conference.html.

Turin (Torino) is a major city in northwestern Italy. When in Turin, make sure you get to see the Mole Antonelliana, a major landmark building in the city. The temperature during the conference ranges from 63 to 77 Fahrenheit (or 17 to 25 Celsius).

 

American Sociological Association (ASA) – August, 2013

The 108th Annual Meeting with the theme “Interrogating Inequality: Linking Micro and Macro” will take place in August 10–13, 2013. The call for papers will launch in October 2012. The web-page for the conference is http://www.asanet.org/AM2013/index.cfm. The conference is held by the ASA, who is behind the number 1 sociology journal, the American Sociological Review.

 

The conference will take place in New York, at both the Hilton (http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/hilton-new-york-NYCNHHH/index.html) and Sheraton (http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=421) hotels. The Big Apple is of course the main city of the US. The conference is placed in Manhattan, the famous island between the Hudson and East Rivers. The temperature during the conference ranges from 68 to 82 Fahrenheit (or 20 to 28 Celsius).

 

International Sociological Association (ISA) – July, 2014

The 18th ISA World Congress of Sociology takes place on July 1 –19, 2014, in Yokohama, Japan. The conference heading is “Facing an Unequal World: Challenges for Global Sociology”. There is no call for papers yet. The web-page for the conference is http://www.isa-sociology.org/congress2014/. The conference is hosted by the International Sociological Association, which is behind the journals Current Sociology and International Sociology.

Yokohama is the second largest city in Japan, and lies directly south of Tokyo. To get their by plane you will choose one of Tokyo’s two main airports. When in Yokohama make sure you see a baseball match at the Bay Star Stadium. The temperature during the conference ranges from 72 to 82 Fahrenheit (or 22 to 28 Celsius).

 

Nordic Sociological Association (NSA) – 2014

The Nordic Sociological Association Conference for 2014 is yet to be announced. The web-age is http://nordicsociologicalassociation.org/. The NSA is behind the journal Acta Sociologica.
